As 2019 concludes…

I am keenly aware I haven’t gotten where I am on my own. My success with VGID and the milestones and accomplishments I reach, are all attributed to the countless army of individuals who have journeyed with me, sharing their gifts, talents, wisdom, and ever-precious time.

I recently came across a postcard from 1988. It’s from the famed Pittypat’s Porch in downtown Atlanta. As I held the faded card, reading the message I had written to myself, my heart overflowed in gratitude, and my mind scrolled through snapshots of a woman who helped change the current of my professional career. That woman is Mardi Bass, and what a difference she has made in my life. That day back in 1988, was just one of countless days and hours that Mardi invested in me, teaching me about design, and a whole lot of other life things. She opened wide the doors to design and to her heart and to this day, still takes time to encourage me. Her support never wavered. It is the constant I needed early on, and a gift I’ve cherished ever since.

Mardi, if it weren’t for you, where would I be? Thank you for making such a difference. You helped me find my start in the design world I love so much. You have been a mentor and a loyal friend. Everyone should be lucky enough to have someone like you in their lives!!

This year, at VGID…

I’ve finished projects up, including the VGID Office renovation, and started new ones. I was privileged to attend one of my favorite business conferences, Genius Exchange. For the first time in years, was able to go to High Point, NC, for the premier home furnishings market where I got to shop the newest collections and be inspired by designs to come. I was honored to be featured in not one, but two distinguished publications, Modern Luxury Interiors Atlanta, and Atlanta Homes and Lifestyles.
