A Trip
Well-Spent

Visiting High Point Market this month was an experience rich in inspiration and new resources to incorporate in our designs here at VGI, but it also meant so much more to me. This was my first trip since the pandemic, and it was wonderful to be among this amazing design community again—in person and maskless. Seeing faces and smiles, laughing with both old and new friends; words just can’t describe how grateful I am for the experience.

Market always inspires me, so I wanted to share a few of my favorite finds and trends (some of which you’ll be seeing in my designs)!

HIGH POINT
FINDS + TRENDS

WALLCOVERINGS These colorful wall and floor coverings from Fenwick Bartel may not be for everyone, but for the right client, they’re a fun way to add a pop of color and show art in a non-traditional form.

STATEMENT LIGHTING Lighting is the jewelry of a room! Statement lighting is a trend that’s here to stay—it makes a strong architectural statement and is a key component of any space we design. I especially loved the selection (right) at John-Richard.

COLOR (Above) I love painted furniture as an accent piece! Sometimes you need something different than your average wood finish, and Vanguard had so many options. I also loved this gorgeous assortment of acrylic photographs (right) from Art Addiction—great for adding a little color and a fun retro vibe.

WRITING DESKS Now more than ever, people are looking to have beautiful work-from-home spaces!
Writing desks are a big trend I see moving forward—without the big, clunky computers of the past, we
can have them in any room!

SWIVEL CHAIRS We’re used to seeing these in workspaces, but now swivel dining chairs, club chairs, and accent chairs have become the new normal.

Stay tuned here and on social media to see how I incorporate some of these trends into future Valerie Garrett Interiors projects!
